Most public works projects require the acquisition of real property rights to provide the land needed for construction. Many of these projects are directed at meeting our increasing transportation and telecommunication needs, such as airports, highways, pipelines and power lines. Some public works projects, however, involve the preservation of lands, such as the Florida Forever Program. One of the largest and most aggressive land acquisition programs in the country, the Florida Forever Program involves the expenditure of over $300 million annually to purchase environmentally sensitive lands and provides oversight for approximately 11 million acres in state lands, including more than 7,000 lakes and 4,510 islands. American Government Services is dedicated to the protection of our dwindling natural resources and is uniquely qualified to develop the “creative techniques” needed for acquiring environmental lands. Working with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection under the Florida Forever Program, AGS is providing acquisition, closing and condemnation services for approximately 850 parcels of land within the Save Our Everglades Project in Collier County, Florida. The Save Our Everglades project will conserve three large sections of land, connecting and extending existing conservation lands, helping to save the last of the Florida panthers and a host of other rare animals and tropical plants, and allowing the public to enjoy this unique landscape for years to come. With a strong emphasis on conservation, AGS excels at working with a wide range of government agencies to encourage land protection. In addition to providing all the “transactional” elements of land acquisition, we are extremely proud of our reputation for providing strategic expertise that allows landowners to achieve their economic goals while enabling the acquiring agency to meet its conservation objectives. |
